Marilyn has represented injured people and their families since 1996. Marilyn has obtained compensation for clients injured in automobile accidents, by defective products, by medical and nursing home malpractice, by sexual misconduct, and in numerous other ways. Marilyn has also successfully represented clients who have been injured or had their civil rights violated by government officials and private citizens.
In 2012, Marilyn and her team brought a lawsuit against a nursing home for failing to obtain medical care for a resident who fell and hit her head. The resident died as a result of an untreated head injury. In 2015, Marilyn helped to recover $1,025,000 for a teenage boy whose neck was broken at a trampoline court in southern Oregon. With her strong advocacy and legal work, the team was able to hold the owners of the trampoline court accountable. In 2016, Marilyn and Derek Johnson brought a successful claim against a Jackson County doctor for negligence in cutting a patient’s bile duct during a laparoscopic gallbladder surgery.
Marilyn serves on the Oregon State Bar’s Local Professional Responsibility Committee, on the Editorial Board for the Oregon State Bar Torts publication (1996 to present), and she is the Co-Chair of the Oregon Trial Lawyers Publications Committee. She is a member of the American Association for Justice (AAJ), a Guardian Member of the Oregon Trial Lawyers Association (OTLA), the Lane County Bar Association, and the Oregon State Bar Association. Marilyn is admitted to practice in the U.S. District Court of Oregon and in the Oregon State Courts.
A 1992 graduate of the University of Oregon School of Law, Marilyn received her Bachelor’s Degree from U of O, graduating summa cum laude in English Literature in 1987.
